In the cemented carbide industry, such as hard alloy end milling cutter, there will also be people call tungsten steel inserts, is usually the alias of the tungsten steel industry, hard alloy is a refractory metal carbide, such as tungsten carbide, titanium carbide and bonded metals such as cobalt, nickel, etc., through the powder metallurgy process of the alloy material.

Characteristics of tungsten steel:
High hardness products: However, carbide is not the higher the hardness of the product, the better, suitable for their own carbide cutting tools is the best, one of the characteristics of carbide is high hardness.
High strength products: tungsten carbide products not only high hardness, but also high strength, tungsten carbide high strength has good compression ability.
Corrosion resistance: tungsten steel products have strong corrosion resistance to acidic, alkaline and other chemicals, and can maintain stable performance in harsh chemical environments.
Classification of hard alloy:
There are many ways to classify hard alloy. We can classify it according to the material, application, etc. Most of the time, we classify hard alloy according to the material. We divide the sintered carbide material into four categories:
Tungsten cobalt carbide: We make this kind of tungsten carbide mainly from tungsten carbide and cobalt. It has high hardness and wear resistance, and we find it suitable for processing cast iron, non – ferrous metals and other materials.
Tungsten titanium cobalt carbide: Added titanium carbide on the basis of tungsten cobalt carbide, improve the hardness and heat resistance of the alloy, mainly used for processing steel.

Tungsten titanium tantalum carbide: We add tantalum carbide on the basis of tungsten titanium cobalt to produce it. It has higher hardness, heat resistance and impact resistance, and we can use it for processing a variety of difficult – to – machine materials.
Steel – bonded hard alloy: We use steel as the binder to make it. It has strong strength and toughness. We can forge it and subject it to heat treatment. Also, we can use it to manufacture complex molds and tools.
Cemented carbide materials are different, such as tungsten, cobalt, tantalum, titanium, steel and other materials, there will be different applications, according to different hard alloy, processing with different materials, the choice of sintered carbide will be different.
